. I love the pictorial photography of Edward Steichen (1879-1963), especially his photographs of Balzac by Rodin in the garden of the sculptor in Meudon in 1908 (the first two above). Among many other intriguing works, the undergrowth almost abstract (third in 1899) and the portrait of the composer Richard Strauss (the last in 1904) are chilling, but it's good. To learn more about Balzac by Rodin and pictorial photography, see especially here and there on the excellent site history through images . The photographs above are preserved The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
