The prayer that Christ taught us as a perfect model deserves special attention. A first analysis it seems to be a simple prayer of contemplation in praise of God. A sort of psalm well paced that we can be repeated to achieve the fullness of regeneration. A series of requests to God to whom we delegate all the tasks: Sanctify thy name Thy kingdom advance, do your will, give us, forgive, deliver!
But then, in the introduction, the above verses, Christ warns us that he will not utter empty words. This is not a prayer of multiple applications because they would be useless, since our Father knows what we need before we ask Him (Matthew 6-8). He wants, we differentiate this prayer, which multiply those pagans talk. This implies that the prayer we offer has a profound meaning. It is composed of words that are not intended to create a new look without being paid, but rather to be a permanent subject of prayer.
And all these things are not pronounced for the establishment of his reign, his power and glory but in consequence of the fact that they already owned since the early centuries, in the century present and future centuries. That's what is observed at the conclusion of this prayer. Why Christ asks us there to pray for the realization of what is already obtained?
"Here is how you should pray: Our Father which art in heaven! Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we also forgive those who trespass against us, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is in all ages, the kingdom, the power and glory. Amen " !
This prayer is short, rhythmically concise. It is not in the multiplication of words she finds her strength and interest, but in the personality of one who prays. He who asks is active, it has a life rich in meaning and sound thinking. What is he? What is it? Who is he? All this deserves to be sifted through our intelligence, by a careful reading:
" Our Father which art in heaven ! who pray to the Father addressed without feeling the need to prove his parentage. He knows he is the son or daughter, the one he addresses . This prayer is for the Father as our prayers have and should have only one recipient: God the Father. The Son is not an intermediary between the Father and man. It does not transmit the prayers we address to God which he attempts to appease the anger. But, as he himself explains in John 16:26: "In that day ye shall ask in my name, and I do not say I will pray the Father for you , for the Father himself will love .... " The Son does not pray for us. He has no burden to send our prayers to God our Father. The day of his sacrifice the veil of the temple was torn in explicit sign of the end of mediation between the priest (who was both the sin offering) and God the Father. By his obedience of Christ, the Son of God, was the sole recipient of the Order which he was the perfect officer as the true Word of God. It's not diminish the power of the Son to pray the Father, on the contrary it is because the perfect sacrifice of the Son was to be drawn all the consequences and not try to restore permanent office of priest that which should make one sacrifice by ending with his death the Order of priests. God is now our Father and Christ our brother whom we wish to participate in his own blood the divine nature. And this work is perfect in us.
But Father in heaven! We do not approach a stone carved with an image carved by human hands on an altar erected high above ourselves in adoration of what is by nature subject. It does not occur at a fixed address street children in such a good city. It is not affiliated with a denomination, slave or articles of association contracts. Our prayers ascend to heaven to the throne of God. This God " has the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and the throne is surrounded by a rainbow like an emerald. The throne proceeded lightnings and thunders voices st. Before the throne burn seven lamps of fire which are the seven spirits of God. You are worthy our Lord and our God to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things and by Your will they exist and were created " (Apo 4.2 to 11). Here is a brief but important vision that we worship. It is a consuming fire and obviously it is not conceivable to subject our desires, our habits, rules of our religious associations. We understand who he is, and it is this God we must pray, because if we do not know to whom we address, then our demands will be in vain! Our prayers should be addressed to our Father in heaven, and nobody else!
"Hallowed be thy name" . God's name did he not reached from the origin to the absolute holiness? How can he still be sanctified? Do not forget that Jesus' prayer is a prayer we are supposed to express. We know that he is his Father, we are in him, and he is us (John 14.20), and is glorified in us (John 17.10). His name we bear must be kept holy by our actions, we who share the same nature as the Son became his brothers in God. "Go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, to my God and your God" (John 20.17). We did not less responsibility than the Son, we who are ourselves son, which is the sanctification of God's name we wear: As the Son said: "I sanctify myself for them, so they also may be sanctified by the truth " (John 17.19), we also have a part to play in the work of sanctification of God's name we bear: " Whoever says he abides in him ought walk as he walked himself " (1 John 2.6). Thus, this prayer al'exacte following meanings: Help us Father, to become aware of the name we wear, so that our actions sanctified by the truth, are offering in the holy name are you wearing and we are partly constituted by the sacrifice of your Son, our beloved Brother and Lord Jesus Christ. If anyone on this subject is of another opinion and he prays God will enlighten it.
"Thy kingdom come " ! God does not reign does not in principle any time and for eternity? And repeat these words without measuring the extent which would make it a futile prayer, we must measure the direction. This is the visible manifestation of the reign of God at the time chosen by him, certainly, but before that he showed his patience not willing that any should perish. He desires all to attain to repentance notwithstanding those men who would all perish under the wrath of God Most Holy. Some in fact motivated by a spirit of revenge are a representation of a God of wrath. More royalist than the king, those would like to see destroyed the wicked, the sinner. But our Father does not want the bad guy dies, but he may repent and live. God's day will come when the heavens will disappear with a roar and the earth with the works she has known, will be burned up (2 Peter 3:9 and 10). But until the mission of the son is to broaden the scope of his reign to those it seeks under its control. So what is his will?
"Thy will be done on earth as in heaven " ! Things and acts, the earth and the heavens, they have not been established by his word and is it not by his will they exist? Why should we pray that His will be done? Here it is the only thing that matters for which Christ came to earth and which he sent us and which is contained in this sentence: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life" ( John 3.16). This is the will of God that does not stop the sacrifice of Christ. If in that respect everything is done in what had been given to do, it is not the same for us. As he was sent into the world, we also sent into the world to do the will of God (John 20:21). Now the Son is the Father's right glorified with him the glory he had before the world was, doing the will of God in heaven, and we sent the son into the world, for our Brother and Lord, we need to accomplish on the earth's will God our Father (John 17.18).
" Give us this day our daily bread " ! Should not we earn our bread by the sweat of our brow? Yes! That has not changed. It is only here to make a finding that is enough. God does not undertake to make us millionaires but just give us what live for our presence here. We are not the world and we do not have to run to the possession of worldly things. If anyone loves the world and things in the world the love of the Father is not in him (1 John 2.15). This text is not a condemnation of the rich but cautioned on the use of wealth, the purpose of their possession. If anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, he closes his heart, (Especially if he prays only for himself, highlighting his hypocrisy by his vain words), how to love Does God remain in him? Let us not love with words tongue but with actions and in truth (1 John 3.17 and 18). Thus this prayer means concretely that the property I used to brothers. This is again not a prayer of waiting, but action.
" Forgive us our trespasses in the same manner as we forgive those who trespass against us " ! Again we know that the original plan of God includes permanent and forgiveness of sins, especially since we have an advocate with the Father, our Brother fair. If, therefore, anchored on that assurance, we have no fear that our sins are imputed, then we must forgive so that our resentments are not hindering the perfection of nature that we have gained through the new birth to the body of God through Jesus Christ. Because we have received the Holy Spirit of God and those whom we forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven, and those to whom we retain any, they are retained (John 20:23). Christians did they realize what enormous power they have been sent by the Spirit? This prayer means exactly: my eyes must be that of God, because I'm involved in the nature of God through the Spirit to me transmitted. I can not accept any sin against me, except the sin against the Holy Spirit that I received for and during the mission entrusted to me (John 20:21 and 22).
" Lead us not into temptation " ! Keep us from temptation or do not let us be tempted beyond our strength, a prayer could be acceptable. However, it is an awareness of what we are calling us this prayer. This part of the prayer reminds us of the extent of our faith, knowing that whoever is born of God overcomes always in the world. And the victory that overcomes the world even our faith. Whoever believes that Jesus is the Son of God overcomes the world (1 John 5.4).
" Deliver us from evil " ! We are well aware of the strength and the high rank of our enemy against which we do not carry any offensive, but which we ask our Father to protect us. And we have this assurance: " Neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord " (Romans 8.38 and 39). So get rid of this concern for the evil we may encounter, let us not tire of doing good (2 Thess 3.13).
must therefore infer that this prayer is really a prayer that makes the finding of the effective provision of one who prays, he places himself as a workman among active God's hands, he knows the full power, so that the Father's will be done by him. It is a prayer braided on the basis of the who believes that through Christ he can do everything through God who strengthens ...
"For to whom belong all ages in the kingdom, the power and glory " .
Amen!
